by Philip Gilbert

My brain is strained by
bills to pay
always another one
in the way.

I will get into trouble
if I don’t give them
all my money.

To them I’m just another number
a statistic in their book.
Spare change for the homeless guy
I wish I did have money to give away.

I just play the lottery
£2.50 a go
Some hope
I must me mad
To think it would go my way.
